Indiana reports another 878 COVID-19 cases, 15 deaths

The Indiana State Department of Health on Friday reported 878 new cases of COVID-19. Daily cases have been below 1,000 for 13 straight days and for 21 of the past 22 days.

The state also reported 15 new deaths due to the coronavirus, moving the cumulative total to 12,510.

The department said 6,274 new individuals were tested.

Statewide hospitalizations due to COVID-19 dipped from 612 on Wednesday to 595 on Thursday. The high mark was 3,460, set on Nov. 30.

The state said more than 915,000 Hoosiers had been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as of Friday at 5 a.m. More than 1.38 million had received the first dose of a two-dose vaccination.

Following are the latest COVID-19 numbers from the Indiana State Department of Health. The department updates its data daily based on information received through 11:59 p.m. the previous day.

Cumulative positivity rate all tests: 9.4%

Seven-day positivity rate all tests: 3.2%**

** The health department reports the 7-day positivity rates with a six-day lag to allow time for more comprehensive results.

First dose administered: 1,389,008 (daily increase of 32,376)

Indiana intensive care unit usage

Available ICU beds: 34.3 %

ICU beds in use by COVID-19 patients: 3.6%

Available ventilators: 82.2%

Ventilators in use for COVID-19: 1.3%

*New cases, deaths and tests are previously unreported cases, deaths and tests submitted to the Indiana State Health Department in the 24 hours through 11:59 p.m. the previous day. The cases and testing categories typically contain numerous duplicates—as many as 20% or more—that are later eliminated from the cumulative totals.
