Jackson is scheduled to discuss her experiences on the nation’s highest court, her career in public service and her recently released book, “Lovely One: A Memoir,” with Jane Magnus-Stinson, senior judge for the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana.
Jackson, who joined the court as President Joe Biden’s nominee in 2022, has become known for her blistering dissents as a member of the court’s liberal minority since President Donald Trump took office.
She was the lone dissent in the court’s decision Tuesday to allow Trump to continue mass federal layoffs.
In her dissent, Jackson called the court’s decision “hubristic and senseless,” and she accused the court of releasing the president’s “wrecking ball.”
Jackson is one of the three liberal-leaning justices on the court and has been one of its most active justices. Within the term that ended last month, she wrote 24 total opinions.
The sold-out Thursday event will mark the first time a U.S. Supreme Court justice has appeared at an IndyBar function.
More than 1,000 ticket-holders will receive lunch and a copy of Jackson’s book.
Doors will open at 11:15 a.m. with lunch being served at noon. The program will start at 12:30 p.m.

Maybe she’ll define what a woman is.
You’re such a twit. You show it with EVERY comment.
Spot on … LOL
She’ll discuss how even r*tar** canmake it to the top of the field.
SMH. They couldn’t afford a REAL Supreme Court Justice?
They have already been bought..
At least the ones on the far right have already been bought.
Man…these comments…just agree to disagree. If you don’t like her, save you the grief and don’t comment. She’s worked hard and got to the highest court in America. Not everyone has to think the same thing and it doesn’t make the other person evil, undeserving, or not REAL.
She’s dumb. At least the two other liberals aren’t stupid, just evil.
She supports an imperial judiciary. That’s all we need to know.
Evan M. why would you waste your time justifying your position as if your opinion should dictate others views on Jackson? There’s a simple way to solve all the debate about Jackson and thats simply to look at her dissenting writings. She’s even been criticized by the other liberal justice, Sonia Sotomayor for her lack of understanding in the powers given to a sitting president by congress. She has embarrassed herself in numerous rulings and fuels the assumption that she’s just another DEI hire that was force-fed to us all.
“Worked hard”. LOL. She is an affirmative action quota hire by a racist president, but it’s Democrat approved racism, so it’s cool.
The hilarious irony of making it a point to hire a black woman who doesn’t know what a woman is….
I read the comment section in IBJ to learn something from an exchange of informed ideas, not to descend to playground name calling. Sad
Do you think she is smart? Do you think she should be on the Supreme Court? If so, in 20-25 pages single-spaced, please elaborate and cite properly. That’s how the comment section should work.
She/her is quite an authority on law and truth. What is a woman? ” Science says there’s no simple answer. “
She’s actually the smartest and most qualified judge on the court.
Only if she were the only one on the court.
lol
DEI hire.
Read what her peers on the Court say about her decisions.
Hope she retires before embarrassing herself further.
We can do better.
