I’m not a lawyer, but the 14th Amendment’s language stating that the Census must count “the whole number of persons in each state” seems 100% crystal clear. It says persons, not citizens, not men, not adults, not white people. Persons. If the Supreme Court finds some twisted way to rule that there are human beings out there who are not legally persons, we are in trouble.
It’s been pretty clear that the current Republican Party thinks poorly of the 13th, 14th, and 15th Amendments.
I mean, it’s clear in the 14th Amendment that people who attempt to overthrow the United States government are ineligible to hold elected office. And how that that hold up with the packed Supreme Court?
Republicans say they want to defend the Constitution but every step they take is a move to weaken it.
It certainly seems that Project 2025 is being executed despite Trump’s prior words where he tried to distance himself from it. The voters should decide who is in office and I wonder if Trump ever understood the job of being President. While the current humor of “How do you know if a Republican is lying…..his mouth is moving…” is good for a chuckle, it can have grave consequences at many, many levels…national security, ICE and military within our own borders, tariffs on and off each day….very unstable. The gentleman is 79 years old, is he stable? Not certain he’s surrounded but anything but “yes” staff members. You’re great today, but a terrible person tomorrow if you disagree…..it’s becoming pretty sad and potentially dangerous.
