  1. A vulture investor shutting down a competitor ! And stop calling local he a long time resident in Houston Texas ! It does not matter that once upon a time he was here.

  2. The FCC decades ago set up guidelines so this and other similar actions wouldn’t happen…..then changed its mind. Regressive and pathetic. Print media has had different challenges, but electronic media has created its own black hole. 🕳️. It’s everywhere. Regulated Taxi cabs traded in for unregulated amateur Uber and Lyft drivers. Checking out your own groceries or wait in line for an extra 15 minutes. Let’s not forget next month when century old CBS radio news pulls the plug.🔌. 😢

  3. Gilbert Forbes, Carolyn Churchman, Dave Piontek, Jim McIntyre, Bernie Herman, John Totten, Joe Pickett (Piggott) etal are rolling over in their respective resting places.

    1. People. The obituaries for the media have been in the works for some time. Look at what is being put out there. I’m talking about more than lefty-righty political debates. This isn’t journalism. Broadcast, Radio, Newspaper Print. All have been in the tank for 2 decades. Who is surprised when their audience (customers) all flee to a more reliable form of information. This is not surprising at all. And it’s not over.

  4. Severance?! S..S…Severance?!? What severance did 30 yr employees get? $5k … yes, enough to pay bills for about 2 months if they have no mortgage! Vulture investor values on full display!!!

  5. Based upon reviews I have read of CCB, those who were let go are the lucky ones. DuJuan is not known as a good person to work for, nor is the company. They have a history that seems to be repeating itself.

  6. The fact Scripps sold off a major network affiliate in order to buy stations running ION’s endless stream of repeats sadly shows the diminished value of network broadcast television in the current era of streaming.

  7. WISH is hardly the local broadcast powerhouse legacy it once was, for that matter, neither was WRTV. The weak buying the weaker, not a good day for broadcast journalism. Several people I have talked to and know something of Mr. McCoy characterize him as “slick, slimy” and uncaring about local tv news. It’s about commodity, not community for him — and he’s said as much. WISH was already putting out a mostly inferior product — with a few exceptions. Moneyed and corporate interests catering more to Washington, D.C. than Indiana are at play here. The FCC is doing us no favors as a relative and powerful few continue to trump the best interests of the community. Most people I assume don’t pay attention to these mergers. Folks, someday, it’ll be too late by the time you notice.

  8. Nothing like a good change and shake up to shake up market, and the commenters here.
All seem to cry for a change, and then cry when a change happens, that’s called progress and growth, good or bad. For $83M anyone could have bought 6, and for another $42M could have bought 8. But crying and whining is easier and cheaper.

    1. Kevin, you must be new here. The comment section at NUVO is not for business dialogue. It’s to wail that Indiana is “40 years behind” when there is a political decision that Nate’s Flock disagrees with, but to be mad when a weaker business model sheds 50 jobs.

  9. I truly feel for those who were fired without warning. For a company to do that show a severe lack of moral fortitude. The HR types always council that just pulling off the bandage is the best way. That is pure BS. Giving employees, especially long term employees, time to find something else or save some money is the humane thing to do, but that is not how guys like McCoy work. Neither station will be the better for it and I can say for certain that I will not be watching.
