  1. So great to see a tax break given to this developer for building a supremely ugly building. How in the world would we be able to afford the construction of god-awful design, one blight upon the city after another, without assistance from taxpayers? Such great policy.

When I say this building is ugly, I mean it is truly ugly. Milhaus ugly. Bleh.

    1. Richard, great news! There is nothing stopping you from putting together your real estate conglomerate and building big beautiful apartment complexes. Show us how it is done.

    2. I have to say that there is a rather boring sameness to many of these projects. Drive through the city to see what I mean.
Having said that, kudos to the developers for having a vision for the area, even though tax dollars are in play.

  2. Monday morning quarterbacks don’t have a clue about the cost of land and construction. “Why can’t we have architectural wonders like we had a century ago?” they ask. The answer is simple. A century ago land and materials were a lot cheaper. So too was the labor. Building permits also had fewer requirements. Visit any of our peer cities, and you will see they too have the same architecture as Indianapolis. That’s because the cost of an apartment building determines the cost of renting. As it is, cities are struggling to provide affordable rental housing. The demand for Ritz-Carlton quality apartments simply does not exist in a low cost Midwestern city like Indianapolis.
