A medical consulting startup has opened a 4,000-square-foot office in a historic building in downtown Indianapolis, where it plans to create 21 jobs over the next four years.

Expert RN LLC, which does business as Expert RN/MD, announced Tuesday that it recently renovated a third-floor space in a 129-year-old, three-story building at 235 S. Meridian St. to use as its headquarters.

The company, founded last year, offers legal medical consulting and medical product consulting to law firms, life sciences companies, and health and wellness businesses.

Expert RN said it plans to hire for positions in RN consulting, MD consulting and business operations. Its first four employees have already been hired.

The jobs are expected to pay more than the average annual wage of about $63,300 in Marion County.

“To have our headquarters in a central Midwest location known for its values of support and client centricity sets us up for future national growth,” Amanda Stephenson, founder and president of Expert RN|MD, said in written comments.

The Indiana Economic Development Corp. offered the company up to $350,000 in conditional tax credits based on the job-creation plans. The incentives hinge on the company’s plans to meet hiring goals.

The building, located in the Indianapolis Wholesale District, was known as the Mayhew & Branham Building, named for a business that sold boots and shoes in the late 1800s.
