  1. Anyone else got emails from charitable organizations that they’ve been contributing to, asking for more money to make up for the Trump funding cuts at USAID … while at the same time, doing everything in the world to not make it clear to people that’s why they need money?

    Here’s one:

“You may have heard the news about reduced funding for humanitarian organizations. It’s absolutely heartbreaking for me to tell you that our life-saving food programs in Ethiopia and other places now face serious challenges.

As generous Americans, one thing we can all agree on is that none of us want children to die.

Thanks to faithful supporters like you and U.S. government grants, our work in Ethiopia is helping hungry families and communities”

  2. Elon Musk does not assemble cars or rockets. Neither do his engineers or finance staff or program managers.

So by Musk logic the FTC should require Tesla and SpaceX to charge only for materials and direct labor to build cars and rockets and limit “overhead” (admin costs, depreciation, and tooling costs) to 15% of direct costs.

    1. I didn’t make my point clear enough: universities have to attract researchers by surrounding them with labs, expensive lab equipment, expensive reagent-grade lab supplies, admin staff, and stipends for “employees” (grad students) to actually accomplish research. If they do clinical trials, they have to actually have contract manufacturers synthesize the drug for them, and they may need to pay patients in order to get them to participate in the study. All that stuff costs more than 15% of the direct salaries for researchers.

    1. They believe in it, they just want someone else to pay for it. And, witness the email I received … their base is only just now realizing all the cuts are coming for them.

    1. Bwahahahahahahahahahahaha

I don’t think famous Hoosier comedians David Letterman and Jim Gaffigan have ever said anything so funny.

  3. $$$$$ MUSK $$$$$ < trump OLIGARCHIC REGIME said they have concepts of plans ! Now their plans are being revealed an OLIGARCHIC take over of our democratic Government DAMN the SLOW LAWS FULL SPEED AHEAD . Let them try to catch up to enforce their SLOW laws after the damage is DONE !!

  4. First step in dismantling the kleptocracy! Personally thrilled to not give Yale, Harvard, and Johns Hopkins any more billions. It’s not like they don’t already have the largest endowments in the country to spend their money on. Plus, all they have been doing is wasting mi day on race-baiting and social engineering. Maybe they can cut that nonsense out and put it to a good cause….like what the NIH stole from us for “biomedical engineering”.

    1. How about all of the research being done here in Indiana? Does the MAGA mind even comprehend that literally ALL of the medical advances we have available to us started in a lab on a campus somewhere?

    2. It doesn’t just happen at Ivies and Johns Hopkins.

Here’s a concrete example: Hoosier workers made big exit money when Endocyte was sold to Novartis in 2018. The key: Purdue research. Further, Purdue Research Foundation reaps more in royalties. And without money to fund the research, it wouldn’t have happened:

      Sources: https://www.ibj.com/blogs/the-dose/71199-endocyte-insiders-to-reap-millions-in-novartis-deal

      https://www.ibj.com/articles/purdue-lands-100m-for-cancer-drug-pluvicto-royalties

  5. Dismantling the kleptocracy? More like implementing a kakistocracy.

“A government that is ruled by the least suitable, able, or experienced people in a state or country.”

    1. Republicans and the billionaires behind them have played a very long game to roll back all the progress in America since FDR, to turn America into a democracy like you see in Central America.

Directionally, that’s where this is going, the extermination of the middle class. The number of people who vote against their own interests is just breathtakingly large.
