Letter: Praise for jazz great David Baker

You offer overdue recognition for professor David Baker, posthumously, who I studied with in 1971 at Indiana University [Indy Beacons: “Jazz legend David Baker became music professor,” Nov. 27]. My classmates—some professionals—were all competing for face time, skill cultivation, and incidental history [while] culling and sharing anecdotes Mr. Baker would offer. I was so blessed with this experience, and still playing. Support Indy JazzFest and The Cabaret! We lost a Great One with David’s passing.
