State reports 12 more deaths from COVID-19, rise in hospitalizations

The Indiana State Department of Health on Tuesday reported 824 new COVID-19 cases, the second day in a row with fewer than 1,000 new cases.

The seven-day moving average of positive cases in Indiana dipped from 1,151 on Sunday to 1,140 on Monday—up from 985 on April 1.

The state reported 12 new deaths from COVID-19, raising the cumulative total to 12,950.

Statewide hospitalizations due to COVID-19 rose from 931 on Sunday to 967 on Monday. Hospitalizations are up 38.7% since April 1. The all-time high mark was 3,460, set on Nov. 30.

The health department reported the testing of 3,188 new individuals.

The state said more than 1.96 million Hoosiers had been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as of Tuesday at 5 a.m. More than 2.37 million had received the first dose of a two-dose vaccination.

Following are the latest COVID-19 numbers from the Indiana State Department of Health. The department updates its data daily based on information received through 11:59 p.m. the previous day.

** The health department reports the 7-day positivity rates with a six-day lag to allow time for more comprehensive results.

*New cases, deaths and tests are previously unreported cases, deaths and tests submitted to the Indiana State Health Department in the 24 hours through 11:59 p.m. the previous day. The cases and testing categories typically contain numerous duplicates—as many as 20% or more—that are later eliminated from the cumulative totals.
