Statewide COVID-19 hospitalizations fall to lowest level since late October

The Indiana State Department of Health on Friday reported 2,645 new cases of COVID-19, the 32nd time in the past 33 days that daily cases have topped 2,000.

The state also reported another 46 deaths due to the coronavirus. Deaths due to COVID-19 have exceeded single digits for 110 straight days.

The department said 10,282 new individuals were tested Thursday in Indiana, the second day in a row that testing has exceeded 10,000.

Statewide hospitalizations due to COVID-19 saw  big drop, from 1,915 on Wednesday to 1,725 on Thursday, the lowest number since Oct. 29. The high mark was 3,460, set on Nov. 30.

The state said more than 127,000 Hoosiers have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

Following are the latest COVID-19 numbers from the Indiana State Department of Health. The department updates its data daily based on information received through 11:59 p.m. the previous day.

New tested individuals: 10,282

Total cumulative tested individuals: 2,940,233

Cumulative positivity rate unique individuals: 21.2%

Seven-day positivity rate unique individuals: 17.3%**

Cumulative positivity rate all tests: 10.6%

Seven-day positivity rate all tests: 8.7%**

** The health department reports the 7-day positivity rates with a six-day lag to allow time for more comprehensive results.

First dose administered: 518,997 (daily increase of 15,890)

Fully vaccinated: 127,521 (daily increase of 5,267)

Marion County 7-day positivity rate unique individuals: 16.2%

Marion County 7-day positivity rate all tests: 8.2%

Hendricks County cumulative cases: 14,786

Johnson County cumulative cases: 15,456

Madison County cumulative cases: 11,210

Boone County cumulative cases: 5,668

Hancock County cumulative cases: 6,890

Morgan County cumulative cases: 5,618

Shelby County cumulative cases: 4,297

Indiana intensive care unit usage

Available ICU beds: 31.4%

ICU beds in use by COVID-19 patients: 18.4%

Available ventilators: 77.1%

Ventilators in use for COVID-19: 7.8%

*New cases, deaths and tests are previously unreported cases, deaths and tests submitted to the Indiana State Health Department in the 24 hours through 11:59 p.m. the previous day. The cases and testing categories typically contain numerous duplicates—as many as 20% or more—that are later eliminated from the cumulative totals.
