How many old-school, coal mining jobs has this admin created to offset these new tech jobs? The answer is probably none. There were less than 1,500 mining jobs in Indiana per EIA in 2023.
Who could have predicted this? Cut the Federal subsidies and now the jobs dry up.
Only 6 months in, so we might as well get used to it.
The point of the subsidies was to jump-start the US industry to catch up with China. It’s not ideal but probably a worthy goal.
Just listened to a podcast that said, some years back, there were fewer coal mining jobs in the US than there were LICENSED yoga instructors – not TOTAL yoga instructors, but those that actually had gone to the trouble of receiving a state license.
