  1. LLM models themselves have not gotten much better in a year. Advancements mostly coming from tuning & adding for-loops. And there isn’t much training data left on earth to make them better, plus hallucinations are basically impossible to stop and will continue to be as LLMs are block boxes.

Seems like neither industry is doing particularly well, but there is a lot of dumb money in one of them. Ironically, that money would be better off going towards manufacturing.

  2. Hard to rebuild the manufacturing sector without sustained and predictable federal commitment to education and retraining, rational immigration policy to support a contracting workforce, expanded governmental support of basic research and innovation, shutting down known areas of manufacturing growth (renewable energy, electric vehicles, etc. – just ask the Chinese), rise in basic wages, and a shift in tax policy to incentivize all of the above. It will not just happen by wishing it to do so.

  3. I read a recent article that we are heading to an AI Bubble. AI driving the stock market. It’’s even hitting locally where equity firms want to buy power companies (like AES) because of AI power demands. There are going to be companies that invest heavily and won’t get any payoffs, just like the dot com bubble of 2000. What’s worse is the rest of the economy is sliding into recession thanks to truly bad government policies while the AI boom keeps anybody from noticing.

Hold on for a wild ride.
