Cathedral mines ‘Silver’ for new tuner

Four reasons to consider catching “Silver,” which opened at Cathedral High School last night and runs through Sunday.

1. You like to get an early look at new musicals in development.

2. You’ve got family or friends who go to Cathedral (nearly the entire student body is involved in one way or another).

3. Beef & Boards’ production of “Treasure Island” (same source but an entirely different show) either didn’t do it for you or made you want more.

4. You know that I’m out of town and can’t see it so you’re willing to serve as my eyes and ears and will offer a comment this week on You-review-it Monday.

Oh, while you are hear, you might as well know my favorite pirate joke:

A pirate walks into a bar.

Bartender says, “You look awful. How did you get the wooden leg?”

“We were in a battle at sea,” says the pirate, “and a cannon ball hit my leg but the surgeon fixed me up, and I’m fine, really.”

“What about that hook?,” says the barkeep.

“Another battle,” says the pirate. “Sword fight. But the surgeon fixed me up with this hook.”

“And the eye patch?” asks the bartender.

“Birds,” says the pirate. “I looked up, and one of them left a little something in my eye.”

“You can’t lose an eye just from some bird droppings,” says the bartender.

“Well,” says the pirate, “I really wasn’t used to the hook yet.”
