Jazz Fest lineup includes Jarreau, Bridgewater and more

Among the news that I'm still catching up on after being away: Indy Jazz Fest announced the talent for its September
fest. And while the scale has certainly changed, anyone concerned that the move from downtown to Broad Ripple would mean a
drop in performer quality should be relieved.

The Sept. 18 show at Optimist Park will be headlined by vocalist Al Jarreau and smooth jazz saxophonist/flautist
Najee. Earlier in the day is fusion from the Mike Stern Band and funk from the Charmaine Neville Band, along with the Owl
Studios All Stars and a high school jazz showcase featuring the winners of the Ball State HS Jazz Band Competition.

Also tied into the fest will be separate concerts Monday through Wednesday at The Jazz Kitchen featuring Raul Midon,
the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, and Simone.

And Dee Dee Bridgewater will offer a tribute to Billy Holiday at the Madame Walker Theatre on Friday the 17th.

So what do you think? And how to you expect Jazz Fest to play at its new digs?
