12 arts days of Xmas: Day 6 – “Wicked” lottery

Day 6:  A pair of tickets to see the national tour of "Wicked" at the Murat may be beyond your means if bought the old-fashioned way. But that doesn't mean you can't take a friend as a gift at a surprisingly lower price.

The production has been hosting a day-of-performance lottery for about 20 $25 orchestra seats per show (cash only).

To land a pair, you need to show up 2 1/2 hours before a performance. Your name will be put into a lottery drum. A half hour later, winners are picked who can then purchase up to two tickets. That's when you call your friend and tell him or her to get over to the Old National Centre.

So far, I'm told, just about everyone who has shown up has gotten tickets. Of course, that may change as word gets out.

For a half hour time risked—and $50 invested—you could make a friend very happy.
