Indianapolis Museum of Contemporary Art expanding to CityWay

Note: The location of the gallery was incorrectly identified in an earlier version of this post. I apologize for that error.

With its permanently displayed, curated contemporary artwork, the Alexander Hotel has felt more like an art museum than the Indianapolis Museum of Contemporary Art.

That's no slight to iMOCA, whose Fountain Square place has long been a good First Friday spot but whose temporary feel gave it more of a gallery vibe.

In September, though, things change as iMOCA grows by 3,000 square feet, taking over space at CityWay in a partnership that includes The Alexander. The new digs are currently under construction facing the Alexander's south plaza.
