Assessing the stimulus in Indiana

The preliminary numbers are out on the effect of the $787 billion federal stimulus on Indiana. Here they are, as reported
by the Associated Press:

–$2.4 billion received.
–$780 million of the $2.4 billion is spent.
–$610
million of the $780 million has been spent on schools.
–16,158 jobs were created or saved between mid-February and Sept.
30.

Not included in the report is money going straight to local government or to Medicaid recipients and other
individuals.

The state is slated to receive about $4.5 billion.
