Karstadt Reed Cleaners, an institution on North Illinois Street
since 1898, will close later this month. Steve Stevenson, the owner for 45 years, says business has been “pretty bad.” The company is known for its red trucks and to-your-door deliveries. Local attorney and longtime customer Andy Buroker says the closure is “a true loss for a Marion County tradition.” The last day for Karstadt Reed is July 28, Stevenson said. The cleaners is at 1449 N. Illinois St.
