OneAmerica supplants Vectren as Colts Radio Network title sponsor

OneAmerica has supplanted Vectren Corp. as the title sponsor of the Indianapolis Colts’ Radio Network’s game-day broadcasts.

Colts fans will hear longtime play-by-play radio announcer Bob Lamey exclaim, “You’re listening to the Colts on the OneAmerica Radio Network.”

At first, that may seem a bit strange considering Vectren has been the title sponsor of the team’s radio network since the Evansville-based utility company formed in 2000.

The Colts four-year naming-rights partnership with OneAmerica, which officially began during the second game of the season between the Colts and New York Jets, runs through 2018.

Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed, but sports marketers pegged it in the mid to high six-figure range over the duration of the deal.

OneAmerica has been a Colts sponsor since 2012, but Colts officials said this deal represents a significant increase in its investment with the team.

The radio title sponsorship "is a high profile inventory piece for us,” said Brian Healey, the Colts sponsorship sales account manager.

As the radio broadcast title sponsor, OneAmerica will receive a minimum of 30 mentions through a network of 50 radio stations covering the state and reaching parts of Kentucky—including Louisville—and Illinois.

In addition to its mentions, OneAmerica also gets multiple 30-second and 10-second ads during the radio broadcast.

The team’s OneAmerica Radio Network broadcasts a one-hour pre-game show, three hours of in-game coverage and a two-hour post-game show. Locally the broadcast can be heard on WFNI, which simulcasts on 1070 AM and 107.5 FM.

The deal gives OneAmerica other benefits such as a Colts-themed employee recognition event, hospitality events including a corporate luncheon series, and ads and mentions on the team’s web site, Twitter account and Facebook page.

“OneAmerica is proud to support our hometown team while also sharing with Colts fans in the Midwest our company’s growth story and business offerings,” said Scott Davison, OneAmerica president and CEO. “We’re pleased to attach our name to a great organization that has brought our city a world championship and civic pride.”

The Colts liked the idea of partnering with a firm headquartered in Indianapolis that “is a strong local company with tremendous dedication to our community,” said the team’s Chief Operating Officer Pete Ward.

“The Colts were excited OneAmerica chose the Colts and our statewide radio network as a key brand platform,” Ward said. “Colts fans will become very familiar with the OneAmerica Radio Network via our game broadcasts throughout the state for years to come.”

Despite not renewing its radio network title deal, Vectren remains a Colts sponsor, team officials said.
