State officials say Pennsylvania-based Santelli Tempered Glass Inc. will invest $3.7 million in a new 32,500-square-foot
plant in Elkhart.

The plant will create up to 35 jobs by 2013, according to a Monday announcement from the Indiana Economic Development Corp.

The company makes tempered glass for new and replacement residential windows.

Santelli Glass says it will start hiring machine operators, plant management and maintenance staff later this summer and
will begin operations next month. scheduled to commence in July.

The company is four years old and has 45 employees at facilities in Monessen, Pa., and Ocala, Fla.

The IEDC offered Santelli as much as $250,000 in performance-based tax credits based on the company's job creation plans.
The city of Elkhart will provide additional property tax abatement at the request of the Economic Development Corp. of Elkhart
County.

Indiana Commerce Secretary Mitch Roob says because of its industrial diversity, Elkhart "is emerging from the economic
downturn in a better position than most" communities. Still, Elkhart County had the state's highest unemployment
rate in May, at 13.7 percent.
