Caldwell honored with Emmy for 50 years in local television market

Retired longtime WRTV-TV Channel 6 news anchor Howard Caldwell was honored in June with the Golden Circle Award by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.

Caldwell was cited for “50 years of significant contribution to the television industry.” WRTV was regularly No. 1 in local TV news ratings during Caldwell’s tenure.

Caldwell is one of only six people who have been honored with the award in the 42-year history of the organization’s Lower Great Lakes chapter.

He traveled to Cleveland with his wife, Lynn, and their three daughters to receive the award at the 2011 Emmy Awards on June 18.
