Audiovox sees gains in antenna sales

The electronics accessories unit of Audiovox Corp. in Carmel is gaining from the rise in antenna sales ahead of the June 12 switch to all-digital TV broadcasting.

U.S. antenna sales (2008, estimated):

4.4 million, up 48 percent over 2007

U.S. households using antenna primarily:

12.6 million

U.S. households using antenna and pay TV:

19.2 million Indiana homes on antenna: 359,680 (15 percent)

Big antenna makers:

Antennas Direct, Audiovox (Terk, RCA) and Winegard
