Auto stampings plant plans to add 75 jobs in Muncie

Muncie-based Indiana Stampings LLC, a manufacturer of metal stampings for the automotive industry, announced on Thursday morning that it plans to add 75 jobs by 2013 as part of a $7.3 million expansion.

The company, owned by Portland, Tenn.-based North American Stamping Group, said the investment will go toward leasing and equipping a 155,000-square-foot facility.

Indiana Stampings, which has 51 employees, plans to begin hiring tool makers, press operators, material handlers and robotic welding operators by the end of the year.

The Indiana Economic Development Corp. said it will provide the company up to $625,000 in performance-based tax credits and up to $100,000 in training grants based on the company’s job-creation plans. The city of Muncie approved tax-increment financing bonds and property tax abatements.
