Baby food maker adding 150 jobs in Lebanon

Skjodt-Barrett Contract Packaging LLC plans to add 150 jobs at its Lebanon plant by the end of September, about a year earlier than expected, due to increased demand for its products, the Toronto-based company said Wednesday.

Skjodt-Barrett opened the plant in November with 25 workers and saw its work force grow to 100 employees by May. It manufactures organic and non-organic baby food, fruit snacks and fruit smoothies in pouches topped with a spout and re-closeable cap.

“We have seen phenomenal interest from our customers in getting more products to market, such that our demand forecast has quadrupled in the last 18 months,” company President and CEO Dan Skjodt said in a prepared statement.

Skjodt-Barrett invested about $25 million last year to acquire and renovate a 215,000-square-foot building in the Lebanon Business Park near Interstate 65.
