Wayne County attorney Ron Cross said Sugar Creek Packing Co.'s $13 million bid was the only one submitted for the U.S. Bankruptcy Court sale of the former Really Cool Foods plant near Cambridge City.
IBJ reported in June that Sugar Creek had made a $13 million offer for the plant.
The Palladium-Item reported that Sugar Creek Packing has five facilities in Ohio and Kansas and prepares a variety of raw and fully cooked products for domestic and international customers.
Cross says county economic development officials have been working with Sugar Creek for months on the sale, but that he didn't know the company's plans for the Cambridge City plant. The plant had about 130 workers when it closed.
