A former mechanic for Sarah Fisher/Hartman Racing says in a lawsuit that he was fired after he complained that a crewmate was sexually harassing him.

Scotty Merryman filed the lawsuit Friday in federal court in Indianapolis.

The complaint says the team allowed another crewmember to sexually harass Merryman physically and verbally while he was employed from January 2011 to July 2012. Merryman is suing the team for alleged sex discrimination, religion discrimination and retaliation.

The lawsuit says the other man knew Merryman was a Christian and taunted him about his sex life.

Merryman says after he complained to management he was fired due to the "chemistry" between him and the other man.

A message seeking comment was left with the team's law firm.
