Northwestern Indiana man to be consumer counselor

Gov. Eric Holcomb has appointed Bill Fine as Indiana’s new utility consumer counselor, the state’s official advocate for utility customers.

Fine replaces David Stippler, who retired on Jan. 1 after 11 years in the position.

From 2014-2016, Fine was a Republican state representative for a district that includes Munster and Hammond. Fine ran for re-election but lost in November.

A native of Hammond, Fine has 40 years of experience as a practicing attorney. He has also served on the Board of Managers for the Lake County Bar Association and on the Lake County Election and Voter Registration Board.•
