Westfield makes smoking illegal in most public places

The Westfield City Council passed a smoking ban 7-0 last night that will prohibit smoking in most public places, including outdoor arenas, stadiums and amphitheaters.

The ban, which goes into effect in 30 days, will allow smoking in some taverns and restaurants, but only those that don’t allow people younger than 21 years old.

Westfield joins numerous communities around central Indiana that have passed some form of smoking ban, including Indianapolis, Avon, Carmel, Greenwood, Lawrence, Speedway, Franklin and Zionsville.
