  1. “Republican leaders have indicated interest in easing regulations to make it easier to open and operate childcare facilities”

It’s definitely one approach to solving the issue. Of course, for most all of those “troublesome” regulations, why were they put in place to begin with? Generally, it’s because of issues that arose in the past, likely by a legislator solving for an issue that came about in real life. If you want to drop the regulations, then, you should explain why that regulation no longer is considered an issue. I don’t have any real expectation that Republicans will bother to do that.

I am fortunate to be out of the childcare market but it was darn near prohibitively expensive a decade ago to have two kids in suitable childcare. I don’t know how people do it nowadays, but I’d welcome the input. My perception is that it’s about as broken as the long term care nursing field, and the root issue is that it’s a very hard job that pays peanuts and most people get out of it due to that.

    1. Pro-life until it might cost you some money, Donald? You do realize that the number one reason that people seek abortions is that they can’t afford to raise a kid?

I think a lot of the older folks who enjoy making flip statements like Donald maybe should have spent more time at Christmas listening to their younger relatives with young kids about the cost it takes to raise kids.

It’s nowhere close to what you experienced. It’s nowhere close to what I experienced 15 years ago. Its insane. My wife and I shake our heads, glad that we are done with the young child years …

    2. Joe…So you’re telling us that abortion is actually about family planning? Why not plan to not become pregnant. I spent the Holidays enjoying all my grandchildren and their parents talking about how happy they are with their kids. Sorry your experience was different.

    3. Yes, because all your female classmates actually went to live with their uncle on the farm on short notice, didn’t they Donald?

Maybe ask those kids next time to go through their expenses related to child rearing. Guarantee you that your mind will be blown. Heck my mind is blown by what Frankie shared and I’m closer in age to him than you. Never to old to stop learning…
