Looks like random rectangles dropped on a two-dimensional plane. There is no art to it. It is as if we’re done without a lick of thought about how PEOPLE will use it. It’s a series of buildings to drive to, park your care and walk into. Nothing attractive at all. No sense of space. Try arranging buildings to create spaces you might want to be in, walk through. Then you will have the walkability, livability and community vitality we so rarely see in these projects. Come on Indy. Don’t just settle for any old crap. As shown, this project is a loser. Demand better. Demand that the city put TALENTED COMPETENT leadership onto these things. Expect more for your own good P-L-E-A-S-E. Don’t waste another opportunity.

For clarification, the image shown in the article is only one of many scenarios that were studied to ensure the right mix of future land uses from 465 to the county line.
Yesterday’s presentation to MDC was a first step in ensuring we continue to get feedback from all parties. There is a website underway that outlines the full opportunity, everything that was considered, and all of the stakeholders that had a voice in the plan.
This was an exciting yearlong partnership that helps us highlight that there are potentially 400+ acres of Indianapolis that could see new life in the future!

One way to make living near the airport tolerable is to build sound proofed apartment buildings.

I could see a 3 story, circular apartment building with thick glass windows and a concrete roof being a place that many frequent airport visitors would like to have as a home.
Whatever is finally decided and/or developed, will likely not exceed 60’ in height due to FAA regs and airport proximity. If there is only one dedicated rail transport in Indianapolis, the right of way needs to be secured and allowed to run beside Washington Street to downtown. I doubt it would over run its budget by $300,000,000!
Determining who is responsible for street and road maintenance and actually paving and maintaining them and putting in usable sidewalks would be a great first step!
Of course the IBJ would delete appropriate rebuttals and leave baseless pot shots standing.
The Airport should step and assist with funding the Blue Line to run its original planned route across West Washington as it stands to profit from development of all that acreage it owns, development that will be greatly aided by transit service.
