Good to see the 465/69 interchange opening, but INDOT is guilty of a silly blunder. Heading east on 465 near Mann Road, a large and no doubt costly permanent road sign went up this week alerting drivers to the I 69 interchange in two miles. But the sign is wrong. It says “I 69 Evansville, Ft. Wayne, two miles.” But there is no exit to Ft. Wayne there — that exit is miles away on the northeast side. What could INDOT have been thinking? And if the error is corrected, would it not make more sense to announce that this is the exit for Bloomington and Evansville?
Because I-69 is considered co-extensive with I-465 south and east — i.e. I-69 does not end at the I-465 interchange but continues along a joint I-465/I-69 alignment to the northeast Indianapolis interchange of I-69. So any northbound entrance ti I-69 can be labeled “Ft. Wayne”
Glad to see the southwest interchange of 69 and 465 finally open. Maybe Toyota will invest more in southwest Indiana and help spur other growth in that area.
