I am not in favor of the appointed IPEC. Takes the decision making away from voters (with an elected board) and puts it the hands of a “select” few of appointed members of the IPEC. This is anti-democratic. I would vote against this referendum, not because I don’t want IPS to have enough to function (I do), but because I want to see the IPEC fail spectacularly. State government, and particularly the state legislature, who created the IPEC, needs to keep their noses out of local jurisdiction and authority!
The future of IPS does not hinge on the tax increase — it hinges on the governing body being smart enough to spend the money wisely to enable the system to prosper. Let’s just say I’m dubious.
