The Fair keeps getting better every year. Better infrastructure and facilities (new entrance and swine barn) , more diverse exhibits (like the album cover exhibit), expansion of but still limited alcohol sales, better feature shows (ie. Circus), good free stage lineups, and a number of discount admission days (AAA, BMV, etc). All of these types of improvements will attract a broader audience and boost attendance in the future. The one area that is going in the wrong direction . . . the cost of rides at the midway is getting ridiculous. I don’t know how most families can afford it, although wristband days do help.
I just wish they would build a permanent stage across the track from the grandstands. Yes I know about the collapse years ago,. But that was a poorly built, temporary stage. While we get C-D list performers, other State Fairs get A-B. Illinois had, Snoop Dogg, Sheryl Crow, Def Leppard, Brad Paisley, Jake Owen, The Black Crowes, The Chainsmokers, and Turnpike Troubadours.
