The business owners and managers will be accused of feasting at the public trough, opportunists selling the rope that will hang them. I suspect the “opportunity” to receive federal dollars is part of the reason our spineless republican congress decided to NOT TAKE ACTION to counteract the lost jobs INDIVIDUALS are experiencing in Indiana as a result of Covid mandates. Not to mention, discrimination from being able to attend certain events such as business meetings/conferences…
Instead of sticking up for our individual freedoms, our state congressmen ceded to the temptation of croni-capitalism.
We need a libertarian movement among conservatives because our state congressmen sure aren’t behaving like conservatives.
We need leaders who value individual sovereignty and individual responsibility, not leaders who think they need to coddle us and protect us.
Go right ahead. Build your own roads, schools, internet fiber, water and sewer service, flood levees, hospitals…and don’t use the ones the rest of us pay for.
Donnie what you say is great, in theory. If every citizen and legal resident of the United States took responsibility to take care of their fellow citizens while enjoying “individual freedoms,” then libertarianism would work perfectly. But on a daily basis, libertarian ideologues remind us that their idea of “individual freedom” means “I can do whatever the hell I want because, after all, it’s a free country.” Even the Founders would call absolute B.S. on that. Our country is a republic and we all therefore bear the responsibility to respect, protect, and find common ground with our fellow citizens.
Yes, we need leadership that values individual sovereignty and individual responsibility. But responsibility must start at the individual level; if individuals refuse to protect their fellow citizens, who also deserve the right to a healthy and prosperous environment, then government is going to step in whether you/we like it or not. Too many Libertarians throw tantrums at this very notion and won’t be taken seriously until they take the rights and welfare of fellow citizens seriously.
