4 thoughts on “White House says $100K H-1B visa fee won’t apply to existing holders

  1. I don’t think anyone truly understands the impact of this ill advised move by our Dictator in Chief. Not only are foreign governments celebrating their newfound highly qualified employees, but this will be devastating to other US roles including medicine and the staffing of hospitals and clinics. This moves continues the wayward nationalism victimization strategy of MAGA, but WE are the real victims of yet another opportunity to charge the base.

    1. It is not only wrongheaded and dangerous — it’s also supremely incompetent. They issued a dubious order, effective nearly immediately, so poorly worded that visa holders and American employers and foreign governments were all scrambling in advance of a consequence that was presumably not intended. Then the administration had to issue a clarification stating that it only would apply to new applicants, not current visa holders, a vital distinction that was missing from the words of the original declaration. They also can’t get their story straight about whether this extortion will be charged annually or one time only. It’s governmental buffoonery (the likes of which we have seen daily ever since January 20).
