Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels says he doesn’t expect to have to make any deeper state budget cuts in 2010.

But
, he said Wednesday,  that depends on how accurate state revenue forecasts turn out to be.

Daniels has ordered
$300 million in funding cuts for K-12 schools and a $150 million reduction in state higher education spending because tax
revenues are far below previous projections. He also told state agencies to cut their spending by 10 percent.

He
said Wednesday the state likely will have to use all of its financial reserves to get by. Indiana had a $1.3 billion surplus
in July.

Daniels says his emphasis over the next several months will be on making ends meet without tax increases
or "calamitous" cuts in public services.
