Police say the driver of a car that struck and killed an 8-year-old boy in Fayette County Monday afternoon was under the
influence of marijuana. Nicholas Wood was riding his bike on West County Road 50 North in Glenwood when he was killed. Josh
Simkins, 28, is charged with the boy’s death, but has been released from jail. He told police he was unable to avoid
hitting Wood.
