A decorated Army officer who once served as chief defense counsel for Guantanamo Bay detainees will be sworn in as a justice on the Indiana Supreme Court on Oct. 18 at the Statehouse in Indianapolis.
Steven David, who holds the rank of colonel, has more than 27 years of commissioned service with the U.S. Army in active and reserve duty. He currently serves as a circuit court judge in Boone County, just northwest of Indianapolis.
Gov. Mitch Daniels selected David from among three finalists for the vacancy being created by the retirement of Justice Theodore Boehm.
David lives in Whitestown, about 20 miles northwest of Indianapolis.
