About 10 percent of 2009 graduates earned a passing score on an AP exam, but that number jumped to 12 percent for 2010 graduates. State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Bennett congratulated students and educators on the country's second highest one-year jump in that category.
Indiana also had the country's highest increase in participation of AP courses, going from about 20 percent in 2009 to about 29 percent in 2010.
The new numbers reflect progress toward the Indiana Department of Education's goal that at least 25 percent of Indiana students earn a passing score on an AP or International Baccalaureate exam or successfully complete dual credit coursework.
