The Times of Munster reports the state lottery sold a total of $740 million in tickets and awarded $456 million in prizes during the 2010 budget year.
An annual audit released Tuesday shows that top selling scratch-off tickets brought in $465 million in 2010, down from $474 million in 2009. Lottery managers attributed the decline to the slumping economy.
But the lottery collected $12 million in new sales for the multistate Mega Millions game, and $10 million in added sales for a Keno-like game.
The Hoosier Lottery contributed nearly $190 million in excess revenues to Indiana's general fund in 2010, up from $179 million the year before.
