Officials of Metal Technologies Auburn have asked the Auburn City Council to approve tax breaks for the planned expansion, which could begin next year.
Company vice president Jeff Turner tells The Star of Auburn that most of the anticipated 42 new jobs will be added in 2013 after it installs a second melting furnace as part of the expansion.
Turner says the company is expanding because business seems to be solidifying, with customers placing orders farther into the future than in recent years. The company now has about 200 workers.
The city council is expected to vote on the tax break request next month.
