  1. If it’s good for Indianapolis, implement it for all 92 counties. Make their commissary funds be approved by county councils.

Jack Sandlin needs to run for Marion County sheriff or mayor of Indianapolis if he thinks he has solutions for the problems that plague for Indianapolis.

  2. Use the surplus to clean up our trashey highway’s 70 65 north and south and 465 it a trash dump our city looks like a 3rd world country compaired to Detroit and other cities like Louisville compaired to their highway’s.

  3. Why does the Sheriff think it’s “his” money. I can’t say that I’d like to see it go back to the council either. It should be returned to the taxpayer. If any and every agency has excess funds; it is ours and should be given back. Same with funds from confiscated property. I have never seen an accounting of how these extra funds are spent. If anything, it should be spent on operating the courts and jails. As far as I know, confiscated cars end up with the Police & Sheriff. How long are they used, who pays to maintain them? Good question. Do they cost us money or what?? The city and the county need to set budgets and justify them, and live within them. The school system and the Fire Department are also great examples of potential waste & fraud. They have too many vacated buildings and vacant properties; this is a huge amount of taxpayer money just costing us to have it vacant. Sell the old airport and all those decrepit parking lots; repurpose the asphalt and usable buildings and tear down unfit buildings all over the city. Then resell them and turn it into tax base. This is what government should do, but no-one is making them. The Sheriff is being too defensive because it’s play money for him. Sorry sir, it’s ours. Steven Pettinga Indianapolis
