Cynthia Carrasco has served since 2007 as executive director for the Office of the Inspector General and the Indiana State Ethics Commission. She'll replace longtime Inspector General David Thomas on Jan. 11.
Thomas had served as Indiana's inspector general for nearly a decade.
Carrasco will become the second person to hold that post, which Mitch Daniels created when he became governor in 2005 to serve as a watchdog against fraud and abuse in state government.
Pence said in a written statement that Carrasco's extensive background in ethics and leadership abilities makes her "the right person at the right time to continue the progress" he says Indiana has made in making its government more transparent and accountable.
