Applied Intelligence Corp., an electrical engineering service provider focused on automation, is expected to build a 12,000-square-foot office and production facility at the northwest corner of Pleasant Street and Union Chapel Road.
The company, founded in 1983, currently is based at 9325 Uptown Drive in Castleton. Its services include controller programming, panel design and build, print design and preparation, technical installation and software integration.
The company employs 10 and anticipates hiring three additional employees within five years of moving to Noblesville. The jobs will pay more than $57,000 a year with benefits.
The Noblesville City Council on Monday night preliminarily approved a three-year real-property tax abatement for the company. The abatement is expected to save Applied Intelligence Corp. more than $49,000 during the three-year abatement period. It will pay nearly $33,000 in taxes during that time frame.
The abatement proposal goes back to the council next month for a final vote.
The 8.57-acre property is already zoned for for industrial use, so rezoning is not necessary.
Applied Intelligence Corp. was founded by Gabe Effing, an engineer, who previously had experience working with circuit boards and thought the tidiness of traces and chips could be transferred into wires and components in industrial enclosures.
Today, AIC partners with leading system integrators including Rockwell Automation and Allen Bradley to provide electrical enclosures and control components.
Effing told the council Tuesday night that additional land will be available should the company seek to expand in the future.
