KSM Consulting acquires local app development company Connect Think

KSM Consulting, a technology services and data-analytics consultancy founded by Indianapolis-based accounting firm Katz Sapper & Miller, announced Thursday that it has acquired Indianapolis-based app development company Connect Think LLC.

KSMC plans to use the acquisition to expand its business applications practice. Terms of the sale, which closed this month, were not disclosed. 

“Our clients have been expressing a need for increased support, expansion and optimization of their applications,” KSMC CEO Mark Caswell said in a written statement. “Traditionally, we have directly offered software strategy, assessment and selection services, but have partnered for app development and complex integration projects. Bringing on the Connect Think team allows us to fulfill all application needs for our clients.”

Connect Think’s two owners, Justin Bolles and Chris Waugh, along with six of the company's eight other employees, joined KSMC as part of the acquisition.

In addition, KSMC plans to hire up to eight additional employees to support the growing client need for application development, integration and management, company officials said.

KSMC’s business applications practice will serve Connect Think’s clients and complete existing development projects. 

KSMC, which had 132 employees before the acquisition, has promoted Ryan Achterberg to director of applications to lead the business unit. Achterberg, a Microsoft-certified system expert, was the second employee hired when KSMC launched in 2008.


In April, KSMC announced that Philadelphia-based Renovus Capital Partners had acquired a majority stake in the firm and planned to hire 30 at the Indianapolis headquarters to support future growth.

KSMC—which has more than 300 customers—has added 42 employees this year and has 22 open positions, including roles in applications, technology, data analytics and project management, company officials said.
