Police: Girl, 10, killed by mother’s boyfriend

September 7, 2010

Crawfordsville police say Steven Bixler intended to scare his girlfriend’s daughter as a disciplinary measure Saturday when he entered her room and pointed a rifle at her. Instead, the rifle discharged, firing a bullet directly into the 10-year-old’s torso. Savannah Ross died from the injuries. A sibling and two other friends saw the incident. Bixler has been charged with criminal recklessness, reckless homicide and pointing a firearm, but additional charges could be filed. Fox59 will have more at 4 p.m.
