A Marion County Sheriff's Office sergeant said he was forced to shoot his police dog, and now the shooting is under investigation by his own department and the Hancock County Sheriff's Department. The dog, Paco, died after Sgt. Tom Shambaugh shot it twice with a shotgun. Shambaugh said he feared for his safety because the dog was agitated and aggressive after it escaped from its kennel. Officials are investigating to see if the shooting was appropriate.
