A Beaumont, Texas-based delicatessen is set to take the retail space in Bankers Life Fieldhouse that Dunkin Donuts vacated on Friday.

A spokeswoman for Jason’s Deli confirmed to IBJ on Thursday that a franchisee of the chain is set to open there in the fourth quarter.

Founded in 1976, Jason’s Deli has grown to nearly 270 locations in 29 states, including three in Indiana. The two Indianapolis-area outposts are at 4026 E. 82nd St. in the Rivers Edge shopping center and 12405 N. Meridian St. in Carmel. The other is in Evansville.

Jason’s Deli offers a menu that includes sandwiches, salads and soups, in addition to baked potatoes and pasta. Vegetarian and gluten-free items also are available.

The downtown location in Bankers Life Fieldhouse on South Pennsylvania Street might have more appeal to Jason's Deli than is immediately apparent. New Orleans-based HRI Lodging LLC has received approval from the city to build a 15-story dual-branded hotel on the surface lot across Pennsylvania Street. The $95 million project is expected to include 316 rooms.

Dunkin Donuts opened in October 2010 at Bankers Life, then called Conseco Fieldhouse. The space originally was occupied by a Starbucks.
