WTHR-TV news director departing for new job

Kathy Hostetter, who has been the WTHR-TV Channel 13 news director for more than five years, is leaving the local NBC affiliate to become the news director for CBS affiliate KDKA-TV in Pittsburgh.

Hostetter, a Fort Wayne native and Ball State University graduate, came to WTHR from WAVE-TV in Louisville, where she was the news content director.

She also worked as the news director for stations in Portsmouth, Virginia, and Fort Wayne, in addition to working in production and news direction at stations in San Jose/San Francisco and Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Hostetter’s departure creates the second news director opening in the Indianapolis market, as Kerri Cavanaugh announced she was leaving WTTV-TV Channel 4/WXIN-TV Channel 59 earlier this month for a consulting job with Magid.

Hostetter could not immediately be reached for comment.
