A bill by a single legislature to help his own business….. at the detriment of our core capital city?
Let’s just require all animals to be spayed/neutered with licensing in the entire state of Indiana – that will solve half our problems.
$1,000 fine for owners and $10,000 find for breeders per offense
+1
Frankie, you know full well that such a law would disproportionately affect certain “marginalized groups” who represent the lion’s share of the owners of un-neutered pets, as well as the market for certain breeds. And, aware of the political flack it would cause when 80% of the fines would get assessed to Democrats, the Dems would either a) object vociferously, b) immediately create some loophole clause, or c) (the preferred strategy in 2024) engage in selective enforcement.
How do we know they’d do this? It’s already the M.O. for easily concealed handguns, which are the weapon of choice of most urban violent crime.
That’s some gymnastics on a bill that wipes out even the standards of the Republican stronghold of Carmel, Lauren.
Doriot gave away the plot on this bill – Baird was at least savvy enough to claim it wasn’t what it was, yet another removal of local control on behalf of a big company writing those sweet, sweet checks to legislators.
This “quiet” legislative session has been a huge win for those you claim to despise, the uniparty. Funny the selective outrage you exhibit.
Lauren missing the point…again….not surprising.
Look at campaign contributions. The pet store industry wanted this bill for a reason. It’s a disgraceful pandering to certain dog breeders (who ought to be ashamed) and the pet store industry.
And, it’s yet another slam against local control. Which Republicans preach about, until it leaks onto an issue where they’ll get cash.
YES! And the conflict of interest is just do blatant and disgusting.
Indiana GOP = If we aren’t negatively impacting peoples lives or regressive, we aren’t trying hard enough.
also, “we work so hard to hold this state back in the 1950s”.
